Our Wonderful Team
Ana Bertha Martinez
Anabertha is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico. She immigrated to the United States in 1994. She started a broad career in the areas of health promoting, parenting, and community engagement. She integrated into the nonprofit and community organizations, applying her knowledge to the ongoing development of parent leadership in Portland Public Schools and surrounding areas. As a faithful believer that self-discovery leads to self-empowerment, she became a mentor and trainer, gaining expertise in the creation and development of curriculum that would train and guide facilitators and program implementation professionals with an emphasis on the philosophy and methodology of “The Popular Education'' (Educación Popular), among others. She has been a volunteer and independent contractor for over 30 years in various fields of leadership, civic engagement, early education, health and organization, and planning of community and private events. Always hand in hand with her family and their brave and unconditional support. In her free time, she likes to travel, read, and spend time with her loved ones. When inspiration strikes, she writes poems, reflections, and short stories based on true events, discovering herself as: "Poet, writer, and faithful believer of the spiritual and mental healing through the sharing of our own histories, culture, and art".

Gladys Alvarado-Martinez is a first-generation Mexican American, college graduate, mother, wife, oldest of four, and passionate about the success of her community. She has been actively involved with her community in various capacities for over twenty years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Warner Pacific University in 2017 and has used her education and lived experience to support community leaders, families, and children to grow and prosper through self-sustainability, resiliency, and advocacy. After receiving her certification as a Community Health Worker in 2011, Gladys has worked alongside others to bring access to services to the Latino Community in mental health, physical health and wellbeing, health literacy, equity and inclusion, advocacy and leadership, curriculum development, coaching and mentorship, and childhood development and parenthood. Currently, she works at DeMalva Enterprises, working with non-profit agencies and community leaders on facilitation, curriculum development, and professional development trainings on various topics. In her free time, Gladys enjoys spending time with her family, going on walks, and getting cozy for a movie night.
